We buy used automotive and industrial catalytic converters that contain precious metals.
Collection and pricing
The value of each catalytic converter is based on their precious metal content. The precious metal content can be checked from our up-to-date database using the code found in the shell of the catalytic converter. If there is no code or the catalytic converter is not found in the database, we have the necessary equipment to carry out a precious metal analysis. We pay the customer as soon as we receive the goods at our processing facility in Tervajoki.
We collect scrap using equipment registered on the ELY Centre’s waste management register.
We also buy ceramic honeycombs and diesel particulate filters as well as individual, broken or shell-less catalytic converters. Please note that we do not pay for empty catalytic converters and we pay half price for half-full catalytic converters.
Scrap can also be shipped
We collaborate with Posti, Matkahuolto and DB Schenker. Individual or small batches of catalytic converters can easily be posted or shipped to us. Any logistics costs are always agreed upon separately. We collect your scrap free of charge as we determine the most efficient routes and schedules to minimise trips and to ensure full loads. Logistical details are always considered on a case-by-case basis, and there are plenty of options to choose from. if you have any questions about shipping, please contact customer service.
The processing of catalytic converters
Our processing facility in Tervajoki has a decanning station specifically designed for the processing of catalytic converters. Our well-equipped laboratory allows us to perform highly accurate analyses.
The materials are carefully processed for melting using Kat-Metal’s state-of-the-art equipment. We continuously improve our processes and analyses by constantly updating our equipment and operations.
